Tonight we had our very first book club meeting. Since our club is a neighborhood club and all the meetings will take place in homes on Ramsdell Drive, I decided to give our club the unofficial name of "Ramsdell Readers." Right now, our club includes 8 members, all women of varying ages between 30-65. Most of our evening was spent gabbing, snacking on delicious hor d'oeuvres, and drinking wine. We did accomplish two important tasks though -- we selected a book and chose our next meeting date!

The selection process wasn't the most systematic or organized, maybe something to improve upon in the future. Some members came to the meeting with few suggestions, most had discussed good titles with friends but forgot specific titles, and some had titles with descriptions. In the end, we read a couple book descriptions aloud, and then all agreed on The Shoemaker's Wife by Adriana Trigiani.

    Hi, I'm Katie!

That's me! I'm Katie, editor of "Book Club 101," book lover, grad student, mom of three, Girl Scout troop leader, book club member, and hopefully, a soon-to-be employed librarian.
